Bill,
exactly why I entitled that first post "Ugly...". :)
As for your comment on color, do I take it that you are generally in favor of less saturated shots? (Maybe I misunderstood, but that's what I got from that.) I have been wondering, in deciding how best to adjust my D70's color settings, whether it is better to set the camera for higher saturation and lower it, if necessary, in post or vice versa. Right now I have the custom settings set for Adobe RGB 1998, boosted saturation, and contrast, etc. on automatic/standard. I wonder whether it would be better to keep it on Adobe (or change back to sRGB, for that matter) and set all the other settings to standard/auto. Thoughts?
BTW, I realize that it's probably optimum to shoot raw, esp. as fast as the D70 is. However, until I decide to fork over the cash for Elements 3, Nikon's raw converter, or some other option, I'll be shooting JPEG Fine.
Here's another one from the zoo outing. The strange thing about this one is that there was a black chain-link fence between us and the eagle. My wife saw it and called my attention to it. I figured the shots would be useless. However, even in the original hi-res, I cannot see the fence! Weird.
