'Midst the cities here I lie,
Dragonflies of steel once flew nearby.
A road nearby, still busy with burdened beasts of steel,
bears the name of a river near, one in three.

Oh, and before anyone says anything about the poem, I'm a freakin' photographer, darnit!

Just have fun with it.

In a field with a creek and some trees. And some mud.

You are on the far west end of the botanical gardens, I believe it is called Cactus Gardens?

I'll even take a "close to" answer except for close to the Trinity River because the Trinity flows all the way to the Gulf and that just covers too many possibilities.

No, this is not anywhere near the botanical Gardens but MC Images lives reasonable close by. As in within a 10 minute drive.

Well, you are somewhere in the Trinity River bottoms, off a street with the same name, Trinity Blvd., I think it is, and not too far from Bell Helicopter, which is in the mid-cities off Hwy 10, which may also be named Trinity (I don't know that for sure). I want to say in the bottoms off 157, but I think that's too far from Bell.

I think the most accurate answer was "in the mud".

I think that was close enough although Hwy 10 is not the same as Trinity Blvd. which runs roughly parallel just south of "10". You are also correct in that I was not close to FM 157. These were taken right on Trinity Blvd. just west of Bell Helicopter. "In the mud" is actually not a very accurate description as I was on the shoulder of the road. I pass this area at least twice a day and sometimes more and never noticed untill I started taking stock of what I have in my own backyard. It's funny, so many people know tons of things about everywhere in the world but ask them about thier hometown or neighborhood and they come up blank.

BTW the Texas Buckeye Trail Hikes start this weekend down in the Great Trinity Forest South of Downtown Dallas. The Buckeyes should be in bloom and even with this bit of rain it should be pretty dry down there.

I may go down there tommorrow and see how the trees are doing since I can't make the hike Saturday and not sure about Sunday.

The trail is clear enough that anyone can walk it.

Hey, that's my back yard too!!! I pass by there very often also, but more frequently heading west out of our neighborhood!

Dang, saw this too late. As soon as I saw that first image I knew exactly where you were. I live right down the road in River Trails. I've heard Bell freaks out about photographers on/around their land. Was this your first time shooting around there?

This was my first time to shoot here. I think this land actually belongs to TXI but I'm pretty sure it's not Bell's land. Aside from that, I was actually shooting from the Trinity Blvd. easement or right of way and I never crossed the fence that you can just barely see in the first shot. Since you're so close, we'll have to get together for a photo safari sometime. I'm always finding great spots in the area and most of the time, I can actually get a model to pose for me.
