Nikon Lens @ CompUSA - 03-19-2007, 01:40 PM

If anyone is interested, CompUSA has the 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens, regularly $179 for 20% off at $143. This was at the Dallas Tollway store.

I was tempted, but I am going to hold off for the 18-200mm VR.

Well, the cost difference between the 18-200VR and the 55-200 is substantial. Couldn't hurt to have an extra just in case something happens. And at $143... it's hard not to jump on that... especially all the guys & gals new to the photography world... who have a Nikon-mount body.

There is good and bad with this lense...see this review for more info...
Price seems to be real good! Is that COMPusa going out of business there also?
Man they have been around long...i use to work at a Compusa back when I was in school.

I did read this review, but the price is pretty good. I did try the lens at the store today on my D80 and it did work well for what I briefly tried with it. I guess I just decided to save the $143 and use that towards the 18-200VR that I should be getting in a month or so.

This store is also closing. I believe only the Frisco and Plano (off 75) stores will remain open.

I am also an old CompUSA'er. I worked for CompCare back in the day which was their consumer help desk support for all products sold in the store. Hard to believe the company is not what it used to be.
