Wildflowers within an hour of Dallas - 03-26-2007, 01:44 PM

Hi everyone!

Last year I was able to hit the Industry area for flowers and then up 281 on my way back home.

Unfortunately, I don't think I will ahve the days to make a big sweep.

I have never been to see the Bluebonnets around Ennis, suggestions? Are there Indian paintbrushes too? Have they started blooming yet?

I did make it to Cedar Hill on Saturday and saw quite a few bluebonnets and the buckeye trees were quite pretty.

I'll try and post a couple of shots in a few minutes :)

The Ennis area is a great place to find bluebonnets. You can get a map for the bluebonnet trail in Ennis or you can just follow the crowd.

Here is a link to WildflowerHaven.com. This has some suggested routes to take. Just click on the Ennis area routes along the left side of the page.

I'm heading south on i-35 this weekend from Dallas to Belton. Any ideas on site's not too far from the freeway that are in bloom? I didn't see anything on Wildflowerhaven.com.

THANKS!

Check mile marker 254 on 45 northbound...RIGHT AT the mile marker. Noticed a very large growing of them between the highway and the on-ramp as I was driving home from Houston sat afternoon.
