Looks like post time is 1:35 on the weekends and i am sure its a full race card with ten or so races.
some from a shoot there last year

You know I've never been to Lone Star and I've lived in the DFW area now for about 6 years ... is a 200mm (+1.4x tele on a 1.6 crop factor body) long enough?

I would like to attend as well, but I have another event that is schedule to start at 3:00 (but has not confirmed yet), if does confirm maybe it can get if move up to that morning.

I notice in looking at the photos from last year most everyone had 300 mm plus tele lens. I would have to rent something and would like to know if 80 – 200 mm 2.8 lens would be ok. Also would a tripod or monopod be recommend for this shoot?

and Brian yes i think it would be fine I talked to PeteQ the NEW YORKER the other night at the nikon gtg he said you can get so close that when they go by the 70 200 is too tight

70-200 with 1.4x extender on 1.3 crop. Hope that works.
