camera/photo clubs?

i'm new to photography and i'm trying to learn all i can. does anyone think that joining a local camera/photography club is a good idea? i've looked into the dallas and plano clubs. anyone have any experience with either of these clubs?

thank you for the link to that thread matt. lots of good information about photo/camera clubs in the ft. worth area. that's quite a ways for me though! anyone else have any experience with the dallas or plano club?

Been part of the Plano club a year and have enjoyed it. There's a speaker for the first half, a break and then last months images are shown along with recorded comments of the judge. Starts at 7p and it's over between 9-9:30p. There's 75 (complete guesstimate) people there at the start and 35 at the end. It's a diverse group, you will not feel out of place and no one brings their camera.

The best thing to do is visit and see if you like it. One can visit twice before one is requested to join.



The boy scouts meet at the same time so the parking lot is full if one is late. Follow the red line to find the meeting location.
