Glad to see you are still there after that storm passed through. The clouds were boiling like a cauldron when the line passed over me in SW Fort Worth.

Worth and I was hoping ( ) to spot a funnel cloud. No luck. The clouds were rotating, and the sirens were blaring, but just a lot of straight line wind and rain. No hail here. | | | |

I had hail that size in my front yard in Keller. I started to go take a picture, but the rain was just howling and you could hardly see it. I"m almost scared to go outside and look at my cars.
I'm about 5 miles south of Texas Motor Speedway which has about 150K people camping outside it at the moment. Looks like the weather decided to put on a show for them.

TMS: Thousands of trailers and RVs in one place.... Tornadic thunderstorms.... coincidence? I think not.

Good shots, Dane. We had about that size here in Euless, but not much of it fell. It lasted for only about 30 seconds or so. I posted a picture in another thread.

The worst sight I saw was hundreds of motorhomes, trailers, and thousands of people with impending ominous clouds headed straight for Texas Motor Speedway. After I punched through the storm in Boyd, I felt impended disaster was in store for them. I think they dodged a bullet this time. I kept wanting to get out of traffic to get photos but was worried about those hailstones that we are hearing about and showing. Hope everyone fared well.

Glad to hear everyone is ok. Over here in South arlington nothing but tornado sirens, rain and one freaked out neighbor! heheh The last time this happened about a week and a half ago was the FIRST TIME she had EVER heard the tornado sirens. So she isnt used to this yet. I have lived here in the South Arlington area since 01 and we live a quarter mile away rfom the fire dept where the siren bull horn is, so were pretty used to it. No damage here thank god and NO HAIL! Yippie! hehehe

My wife (wedding planner) and I had a Wedding Rehearsal in Weatherford. Our photographer for this wedding lives in Bedford. She never made it.
We got tornado warnings and all we got there was about 30 seconds of heavy rain and that was it!!! Sounds like it really picked up intensity after it got past downtown Fort Worth. The videos on TV are pretty amazing.
It is VERY luck that it skipped the folks at the TMS. That could have been very ugly.

When they announced that the storm was about 20-25 minutes out at TMS, we high-tailed it for the car. Left ahead of the storm, and only got under the hail when we got to Southlake. A few dents, an insurance claim.
We heard that the bathrooms were full at TMS, as that is really the only building that you can go into, unless they let you into some of the food server or t-shirt selling buildings under the stands.
They said the storm had high winds, hail, and lightning. Yep, I'm going to sit it out under those metal stands in lightning. yeah right!
I would not want to be in any of the campers out there during a storm like this one. Can you imagine tent camping out there?
Well, being the fan that I am, tomorrow will be a clear day, and Sunday, "Gentlemen Start Your Engines", and we will be there for every lap.

Nasty looking clouds and that first one does look like it might be the twister. Quote: |

Yippie! hehehe | I am over in north Arlington (by Lamar high school) and had the camera setup ready for the storm, did not get anything other then some wind and a little rain.
All my neighbors came out to see it and Jill asked her husband if they should go get the kids from church. I looked at her and said their is no time and that they were just as safe there and they would be in the car with you trying to get home. Tom gave me a look that said thank you. I could see she was worried about them but that church is built strong. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
