Most excellent "Sunday drive" !! - 04-20-2007, 01:47 AM

...even though it was on Wednesday. For all you bluebonnet-crazy photogs out there, here is one of the best cruises around the western metroplex.

We started in Crowley on FM 1187, headed west by north-west, across US377, on up into and through Aledo... headed north from Aledo still on 1187, changes to Farmer Rd at I-20. Keep north to see huge fields of the bluesies not a couple miles from the interstate.

Continue to a left on FM1886, which will then take you to FM730 (Azle Hwy). Take this southwest into Weatherford, a few spots along the way here too... look for the old rundown shack and windmill on the right.

At Weatherford, stop and get a shot of the Parker County COurthouse, then around the circle to go south on 171. This will take you all the way to Cresson on US 377, and there are yet more spots on 377 too. My best shots were a loaded field on a series of rolling hills with the sun setting behind. This was about 10-15 min south of Weatherford on 171 (Cleburne Hwy).

There are several other roads in the area that I was not able to check out, a few running e-w between Aledo and 171, and a few south out of Weatherford just west of 171. All in all a great area for not only bluebonnets, but awesome sweeping country views.

Very nice, I like the pic of the old swing.
Doing a B/W conversion on the old windmill and shack will work good for that picture.

I was going to suggest a B/W of the barn/shed. Maybe crop out the tree on the far right and maybe some of the front grass. Me personally I don't care for the grain. I also like the swing shot. I also like the sunset shots.

Very nice, Anthony. I actually have a shot at the same spot on Farmer Road sans the tire tracks. I bet it was a nice Sunday drive.

I like the B&W conversion of the barn. Maybe a little less grain. The old swing set seat is nice as well. Looks like you had a great drive.

Thanks for all the input, yes, it was a lovely drive, just wish I had had more time, like a whole day.
