Tiger Shoot - Results for 6/11 - 06-11-2005, 03:23 PM

I'll start it off...

Great shoot today. Big thanks goes out to Tom for again setting this up!

Rocky (600lb tiger) did an amazing jump that I hope somebody captured better than I.

Here are my two favorites. The first is Sheba warming up to Rob, one of her caretakers:

This is Sheba as we tossed in a watermellon for her to play with:

Let's see some more shots from today!

That's a great shot of that fruit fly! How come you didn't use your macro lens on it?

Tom!! You left off your title - "Melon at 2.8" Here's my 'Melon at 4.2' (taken after the discussion of the rule of thirds 8) ).

Good that it was me and not a tiger sneaking up on you...
I like the no-hair on the forehead look better, shows off the cap better..
btw, what kind of lens is that, I am guessing it is a 400mm lens.. I had some people ask me about that lens.. Srini RR

srini, that is a 200-400 AF-S VR f4 zoom. I think Joe had one just like it. It filled a nice niche in the Nikkor line, but it gets to be a beast after carrying it a while.

Hi John,

I'm curious how that Better Beamer did for you. Looked pretty easy to set up, I'm wondering how well it worked with all that shade the tigers seemed unwilling to come out of (who could blame them!).

Hey Srini,

Yours came out better than mine. I'm kicking myself that I wasn't more prepared since Rocky did give us a few moments before he jumped.

Looks like everyone got some nice shots.
