Class / Workshop recommendations in DFW - 04-29-2007, 01:02 PM

While I am learning alot from reading the forums here and at the Canon Digital Photography Forums, I know I would benefit from some basic instructions on camera functions, lighting, etc..classes for the n3wb basically.

Anyone have any recommendations? I have looked at a couple at Collin County Community College but they run during a time I will be out of town for 3 weeks for work so may try and catch them later.

Larry, I think the kind of class your looking for is one Brad offers. This is the post for the last class http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=40755 . He should be offering it again soon!

I was about to say the same thing! Brad teaches a lot of good classes. I havent taken any of his classes but I hear they are awesome! Darryll briggs teaches classes too and I hear they are awesome as well. you may just want to look at the workshop section of the forum. there are several people like mykee and brad and darryll and scott who teach classes.

I will keep a look out for the classes when Brad puts them together, I have seen a couple of the postings about them being great.

My wife and friends will all get sick of me sooner or later for being my guinea pigs.

Photography is an addiction, I may only get 1 good shot out of a session that I actually like but always learning something new. So if any of you ever need a second set of hands for anything, while I am still green I can listen and learn.

Now looking at getting a 30d and a better walk around lense too, was thinking maybe the tamron 17-50 2.8, Canon 17-55 2.8, canon 17-40 4L, Sigma 18-50 2.8 - Like the 2.8 constant just incase of any low light stuff but again just learning so the wish list grows daily. haha.

I have a model shoot workshop on 5/12 at my Dallas Studio. See the workshop section for more information. Greg and I will also resume the basic studio lighting events in a few weeks.

I haven't been to Brad's but I hear it is great and will make it one day. Scott's basic studio lighting workshop is great. Don Barnes has a great portrait style workshop where he will instruct and has been doing this for years. Darryl's is pretty good as well.

The important thing to think about is what you are hoping to accomplish and what style you are wanting to do... portrait? fashion/glamour? Base your workshop off of what you are wanting to do.

Mine is also coming to Houston. This is not an easy workshop though, you will be challenged and you will be shown exactly what areas you need to practice with.
