Tired of your flash killing rechargable batteries quickly? - 04-30-2007, 12:46 AM

Well, I was too. I was using a set of old AA(well, about a year old) rechargable batteries in my SB800 and fully charged, they would die in about a week if I didn't use them. Not only that, I would get about 150-200 good shots before it would take a few seconds to ready for the next shot(using 5th battery). At the Nikon GTG, Scott(srwatters) was showing us some batteries he ordered online (Hybrio) and said he was having success with them. So I decided to look around didn't find them right away but found Rayovac Hybrid Rechargable's at Target. The package said they keep their charge like normal alkalines and can be charged in any batery charger. Hmm... what have I got to loose? So I bought 2 packs for $20 and almost a month later with over 450 shots so far, the SB800 still becomes fully charged in a heartbeat after taking pictures. Oh, and I later found the Hybrio's at Fry's Electronics in Arlington for anyone that wants to go there. And since alot of people use AA's in their off camera flashes, I thought I would pass it along to help everyone out. Thanks.

I have been using the Maha 2700 for about a year or so with great sucess. I also purchased the 1 to 10 slot battery charger which has proven itself....

I won't buy anything under 2300mah and I have bought Lenmar, Energizer, and Duracell rechargables. The Lenmars tend to go bad faster. I have some new Duracells 2500mah and they last forever in my Fuji S2 and in my SB800. I also found a 15 min charger with a auto adapter at Walmart I use in emergencies. I typically only use chargers tha will also condition the batteries as well.
