personally I haven't heard of it.
The web page shows that registration is $25-35 depending on timing.
ABSOLUTELY NO CAMERAS ALLOWED... turns me off of the idea.

Unless somebody can convince me there is a modeling market for OLD FAT men

I notice it also says no handing out of cards so there goes finding models. But I wander if there might be anything to learn at the siminars.

Looks like a pointless event to me then if you can't even network.

And I bet if you did go to the seminars that you can't turn around without someone and their dog, or cat, trying to sell you something..... Every few minutes.. "We pause this siminar to tell you about an exciting new product.... blah blah blah"

Sounds to me like someone's setting up an expo to find new talent...

Isn't Legacy Entertainment the same people always putting on those "National Model Searches" that you hear about on the radio all the time? Why, as a photographer, would I pay for space at an expo and not be able to promote myself? They are looking for low models and actors.

This looks to be Sivad's gig.

Find him on MM, OMP, and the like.

First I've heard of it...

The website looks cheesy... bad graphics, poor interface and the like. If anyone gets the chance dig around the website. There were a few photos that look familiar.

I sent them an email asking about the no camera clause in the registration form. He said camera passes are granted to anyone who registers as a photographer. To setup a booth is $50. So I guess it's $15 more to promote yourself but then you are working all day instead of just looking around.

I talked to a person from this event (the PR director) I was quoted 250 for a booth ... (about a month ago) I was not really impressed about what they were bringing to the table ...

I might attend but no booth for me

I have to say I'm really disappointed in you all.

And yes- that's me on the site. And no, I'm not here to endorse the event, nor did I know that SiVad was using my image, but that's a product of TFP for you.

Anyhow- these things started out a LONG time ago, I was a keynote speaker at a few of them, called "Shoot the Breeze". Casual get togethers, with potluck, etc.

And people kept asking for more. So SiVad delivered, after working on this with his fiance, Tawni, for over a year.

You gripe and moan about there being no effective way to meet and network, and then this comes along and you gripe and moan about it. It might not be perfect- there may be flaws, but would it kill you to go check it out?

Texas has amazing potential. But because everyone would rather sit behind their computer and gripe about what everyone else is doing wrong, we as a collective group, go nowhere.

I hope I get a chance to attend this event, just so I can maybe meet some people that I haven't worked with- but if you would rather stay home just so afterwards you can say it failed and that you were right, by all means go ahead.

You wouldn't be the first.

My point: do SOMETHING. attend something, work with or talk to someone you haven't worked with or talked to before. I do it ALL the time, and man! does it make my job, as a model MUA OR Photog- no matter the hat- worthwhile.

We're not griping and moaning. We're laughing. At least I am. BTW, the site doesn't even have the word "network". And if we are suppose to be able to "network", on the application is says we can't bring business cards. Why would I gripe and moan, I'm not going to waste my money on this event.

You know nothing about us, how do you know we don't attend events? I've been to two workshops in the past month. Not to mention the shows I go to in Vegas and Miami every year. At least at those events I can bring business cards.

woah! backlash!

why do you have to sit around and "laugh" then? Are you putting on a better event?

And you don't know that I "know nothing" about you all. I've been on this forum for over a year. I've worked with MOST of the fashion industry photographers as a model or MUA and have a good rep as far as that goes. Scott would be the first one to stand up in my defense on this.

So don't ASSUME things.

That's what got this started in the first place.
