So long Fry Street...Long live the Tomato - 05-13-2007, 02:18 PM

In case ya'll didn't know, today is the last day for most of the businesses on Fry street in Denton. The Tomato is closing it's doors at it's location on the corner of Hickory and Fry forever. They're gonna try to move to new place on Loop 288. A comic book place is moving around the corner to a part of the block that won't be redeveloped, and the hooka bar and the bubble tea place are moving to other parts of Denton. So come on up to Denton and get some slices of Tomato Special while you can and enjoy the last bastion of cool in this part of town. The vibe and the aura will not be the same when the new development takes place later this year. It's dirty, dingy, old, falling apart and more or less decrepit, but we love it. I'll put some pictures from today up later on tonight, but come one come all, and say goodbye. Dave.

Oh I'm so sad. I was only at UNT for one semester, but it wouldn't have been the same without Fry St and The Tomato.. That would be like closing The Chicken at A&M. Out with the old....in with the new....it's the new American way. Oh well I'm guilty of it too. Take lots of pictures and I'll be on the look out for them.

I went yesterday to have a pie. Man that place is falling apart, hopefully with the move they'll be stronger than ever, cause the food makes up for it!
