DFW: Looking for Photo Opportunities

I was wondering if there were any photo opportunities this weekend.

What do you like to shoot?

Right now pretty much anything (events, portraits, weddings, bridal, etc); I am looking to continue to develop my skills.

The only thing that I have not shoot yet would a sports event; which is something I would like to try and learn.

Why not see if the ponies are running at Lone Star Park? Lots of good photo ops down there.

AS mentioned elsewhere there is a shoot with models at the Arboreutum Sat at 9am, I think a person on one of the model sites has set it up where local aspiring models will show up to have pics taken by local photographers for them to get processed images in return-no fees paid other than to go into the Arboreutum. (I would do this myself except for being on crutches right now).

Are the Rangers playing at home this weekend? Anybody know what the camera restrictions are in the stands?

Zoos should be active right now also.

Maybe hit one of the local lakes looking for young ladies in small bikinis?

another baseball option is the rough riders both the rangers and rough rider games are photographer friendly ive shot with a 70 200 vr at both we even had a group shoot there last year

I believe I saw somewhere that Lone Star Park is running on Monday. After seeing the photos from the last outing there I'm excited to give it a try. Anyone else interested?

There's a Polka Festival in Ennis this weekend.... men in lederhosen.. always good for a candid shot..

I just picked up a 70-200 F2.8L couple days back.. DAM the thing is awesome.. I still go out to Huffines park and shoot. I'll let you know when I'm headed that way so you can come shoot some sports. These days its hard to get out to a park and shoot w/o people thinking something or the other. Blah

Do you happen to remember where you saw this do you? Model Mayhem has been virtually unusable the last couple of days and I am not sure where else to look.

The arboreteum shoot was on a thread earlier this week, someone said that they had a spam email about it and was asking if others had gotten it, it is scheduled to start at 9am Sat.

As mentioned above Artfest which is being held in Addison at the Addison Circle (north of Beltline) starts tonight with a wine tasting night and goes on Sat thru Monday. Used to go to Artfest all the time but have not gone the last few years-liked it better at Fair Park-don't know what the weather will be doing to the event this year. They have several photographers displaying and selling their wares this year. In the past there was one person who did a lot of shooting in India through Cambodia and did some great photos-most of their works for sale were in the 35x50 inch range prints.

Also outside of Austin Flipside is going on, the only problem is that tickets have been sold out for a while now. and there are no gate sales.
