Tuesday night is an open motocross practice at Village Creek in Forest Hill. "Open practice" means that spectators get in for free. Anyway, I wanted to see if anyone else would be interested in meeting me out there at around 6:15 - 6:30ish to shoot some dirt bikes? It's a blast and the colors are awesome! Here are a few shots that I've done out there in the past....

Like I said, lots of fun and lots of action. Let's get a bunch of photogs out there and do some shooting! If you see me out there (kind of a large guy with a D200 and 70-200 VR) I'll be happy to pass along any pointers that I can.

For directions on how to get there go to the Village Creek website at: http://www.villagecreekmx.com

Man I would love to make one of these after I get my cast off and off of my crutches, doesn't look too crutch friendly and all. How often do they have these open admitances?

I live just a few miles from there but I work nights so I won't be able to make it. It's a great place to take pictures.

I'll be there! I have been meaning to contact you about your avatar. I used to race motocross in a previous life. Then life got in the way. Of course, the older I get the faster I was! I'll be the fat guy with a red beard and an Olympus e500.

Not really anywhere to plug in a strobe, but bring your flash. I'll be using my Pocket Wizards to try and do some remote lighting.

I was thinking of getting down with some MX shots. I too used to race when in HS. Now I've just been shooting 50's around the neighborhood and such

All of the shots above were taken with the Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR. However, the pro that's been showing me the ropes also does a lot of work with a fisheye on his Canon Mark II. One of these days when I have a wide angle lens I might try something different. In the meantime, the 70-200 rocks. Whatever lens you decide to bring make sure that it can focus quickly. My D200 pretty much stays in Continuous focus mode as I pan with the riders that are flying by. If you have a lens that focuses slowly you're gonna miss a lot of shots.

As for directions they are at the bottom of the my original post. Hope to see you there!
