Tarantula Train Derails - 05-26-2007, 08:35 PM

At around 4:30 pm today the Tarantula Train derailed on its way back into the Fort Worth Stock Yards. All the folks on the derailed cars were moved to the forward cars and taken safely into the stock yards and the derailed cars were placed back onto the tracks a couple of hours later and the tracks inspected for damage.

Nope,

It looks like one of the brake pads broke off and caused the derailment. The pad was found laying under one of the cars.

Tom,

I happen to be on the back side under the awning taking photos of the wood doors and anything else I could when the train stopped all of a sudden and the engineer hopped out and went towards the back of the train. I threw on my 100 -400 lens, zoomed in and saw what had happened. Once they moved the engine and other cars, i walked out there and started taking photos.

Hey, I've seen model trains do this before. Glad no one was hurt. Good journalism.
