Lone Star Park shootaround - Wed, June 22

Hey all,

After seeing the photos this past week from Lone Star Park, I'm going to make the trek out there next Wednesday evening (June 22).

Racing starts at 6:35pm, admission is $3 (general admission).

I just finished reading the June 15 thread and I have a 70-200 lens ... would a 28-200 lens be even better?

Hey Edd, glad to have you along!

Depending upon what you want to shoot is what you should bring. If action, the faster the better. If scenery, maybe something more versatile like the 28-200...

Per the Post Times, we'll probably be able to get in at least 4 races before it starts getting dark...

Nope, just seemed like a quiet day to go, low traffic (well lower than a Friday anyway). Saturday they start at 1:35pm which is good but shooting in high sun is always a royal pain...

Went there tonight with the family to check it out and it's a pretty nice setup. I think we'll do very well Wednesday.

It was VERY crowded there tonight, a lot of young people, a lot of drinking. Not a very good scenario for a lot of cameras (unless you're after the eye-candy). Wonderful sunset shots. Avoid Fridays.

Took a 70-200. Wish I had brought a mid-range along, will do so on Wednesday.

Wish I could be there. You guys have fun. I'll be leaving for California on Monday and gone until July 5. Hopefully I'll come up with some good shots on the trip. Will be visiting So. Cal, San Fran and Yosemite.

If you get a chance to get to Crater Lake Nat'l Park, definitely go for it.
I spent a summer driving a tour boat there, and it is truly picture perfect.

I won't be able to attend the Lone Star Park shoot on Wednesday.
I will be shooting a dance event here in Ft. Worth.

Where are we going to meet up at? Or are we just going to look for people with cameras when we get there?

Not sure where to meet up. I'll be wearing a hawaiian shirt, shorts and carying a big 'ol Nikon.

We can meet up at the fence in front of the dirt track right across from the large TV screen 10 minutes before the first race.

Sound good? Any other suggestions are welcome. I am going to try and get there between 6-6:15pm.
