Can anyone guess what I'm experimenting with these days??? Here's a hint: These images are straight out of the camera. Not one pixel was touched except to resize and frame.
I'll bet no one gets this one. (boy was I wrong)

Jake nailed it.
It's a Canon with a 24mm tilt/shift lens. It's an amazing little piece of equipment. The look it provides almost makes the landscape look like a toy model.
I'm going to try and shoot the IRL race with it in an attempt to isolate the action from the crowd and pit area... We'll see...

PS. Why Canon? Because Nikon only makes one ^%%$&^@# tilt shift lens and it's 85mm. A monstrous oversight on Nikon's part (IMHO).

These were my first shots with it. I'm having to learn the in's and out's of a tilt/shift not to mention learning new terms like "evaluative metering" and what the heck the "T" stands for in "Tv" mode...

Soon as I saw that first picture, I thought "Gotta be the 24mm T/S"... it's a very recognizeable look.

How come I've not seen more of these types of photos. Doing a search on the web did yield a wealth of information and photographers but still, it's something I rarely see posted...
It's a very cool lens. I envy you Canon shooters!

It's not used much, but a little goes a long way. SportsShooter had a "Currently Cool" of baseball spring practice shot in IR with a T/S, to give them the old-time look - it was really neat.

The place I see the 24mm T/S a lot is with hip wedding shooters. If you look at the "cool" peoples blog you'll see a bunch of e-sessions done with the 24mm or 45mm T/S.
I have not seen any race photos done with one.
This beats my idea of taking a large format view camera out to TMS....... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
