Tom,

Contact the rodeo coaches at Tarleton State University in Stepenville. They could probably point you in the right direction. See http://www.tarleton.edu/~rodeo/contact.htm

I'll let you do the google searches.

There's a High School age rodeo just north of I820 at Saginaw. I don't know who the sponsor is.

The Windy Ryon rodeo is held every year in Saginaw on Labor Day weekend, I believe. Great stuff. They also hold roping events year round http://www.windyryon.com/

Well, this isn't just for high schoolers. Our neighbor rides in it every year and he's 50+. But it is a good event. Lots of photo ops.

Actually, I was just informed I got the holiday wrong though. It's Memorial Day weekend for the big event.

There is a rodeo in South Fort Worth on Oak Grove about a block north of I-20. I believe it is every Saturday night. Spanish is the primary language here but for the pictures it doesn't make any difference. Only problem is the "great blue sky" is getting dark before they get very far into it. As soon as I get my 1D III that's going to be near the top on my places to try out the high ISO quality.

If you want rodeos under the big blue sky, here are three. First is the Will Rogers Range riders Rodeo July 1-3 in Amarillo. Then the XIT Rodeo in Dalhart the first weekend of August, the the Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Rodeo at Old Tascosa Labor Day weekend. You can't do much better than that!
