If I remember correctly, around or soon after midnight is the best time because that's when our side of the earth will be facing "forward" as we travel around the sun.

What shower is this? I'm heading out to the country in a few minutes if the cloud situation clears up.

Anyone see anything last night. I was out for about 1.5 hours and saw nada. Got some nice night shots of drilling rigs on the way home and my first digital star trail shot - a short one.

Cynthia, thanks. I shot this on the west side of Lake Benbrook. I picked up lots of light pollution since I was south of Fort Worth. I would think Isle Dubois Park on Ray Roberts would be a great place to shoot star trails. It won't be as good as west Texas but a great place to get it down before making the drive out the the Davis Mountains or Big Bend for the real thing.
