O'Reilly Chevy Spectacular Weekend - June 22-24, 2007

This is going to be a HELLUVA weekend at the Motorplex this is their replacement for the Super Chevy weekend that either pulled out or ennis choose to let them go its a way better weekend of racing its just about all heads up stuff

we will probably have 30 outlaw 10.5 cars coming theres some guys coming from the south the really bad boys lol and some coming from the west coast also firday night probably wont be too good we have a race at Texas Raceway friday night but there may be some pro mods testin friday night at the motorplex below are some galleries from last year its was HOT too lol its going to be the first weekend i get to try out my new D200 plus i have the 600 f4 reserved for the weekend too

this was the track temp for the first round of qualifying on sat

Since you obviously have been out there before, how should we go about getting access to shoot? Do we buy a regular ticket (and which seating area do you recommend) and / or do we introduce ourself to a specific person to get access to the track?

Do you know who to contact?

This will be my first race - I'm planning on spending the entire day out there...

I'm not a racing enthusiast by any means, don't know anything about what you mention above, but it seems like it could be an exciting event to learn speed oriented and action photography...

Any help would most definitely be appreciated!

well track access is TUFF at Ennis you can shoot from the stands with no problem in fact i will probably shoot from the stands with the 600 i want to get a little elevation with it the first day will be good shootin in the first two roiunds of qualifying which is set for 4 6 and 8 the second day is all eliminations which start at NOON uggg hot hot hot Im not sure what glass you ahve but any 70 200 should work fine they will prbably just have the pit side stands open at least they did last year that way you can cruise the pits and get pit shots also this post should see a lot of action this week lol

oh and with the tragedy of this weekend in selmer tn i gaurantee the memo has already come out from NHRA about trackside safety even though this didnt happen at a track

oh if you know where an Oriellys is they have 2 for 1 coupons It is goin to be a HOT SOB too you might bring sunblock and skeeeter repellent lol

I'm in Houston area, so I won't be able to go, but would love it! Track access here in Baytown is fairly strict, also. Here's what i do. Shoot from the stands high enough to get rid of the safety wall in the foreground. Shoot the opposite lane from you, and watch the super stocks, they wheelie really good. You may be able to come up from behind the starting line, and get some good smokin' wheel shots. Heres a couple of pics. First one from the stands ( Troy Critchley, btw ). Second one I talked the local paper out of a press pass (TOO COOL!). Like your site. I use the same printer, and love it. Happy shootin'.

man must be a few years old thats the car two or three cars ago lol I have a buddy who
pretty good friends with the ams team he said troy is A TOTAL MESS which i can understand but not as torn up as the families im sure there was one mother who lost both her daughters 15 and 18

The pic of Critchley is 2004? Still shooting film then. That shot helped secure the pass for the 2005 Spring Nationals. Too bad about the incident in Selmer. Rough on everybody I'm sure.

ya lol hes been through two corvettes 1 willys and 1 camaro since then and now hes drivin this car, hes kind of rough on cars

I might be interested in this meet, especially if there is a chance of getting into the event at 1/2 price (split the two for one deal) ? I have to check and see if I can get away from Ft. Worth that day.....
