Edgy/artsy/contemporary location for bridal - 06-21-2007, 09:47 AM

So I am shooting a bridal session at around 5 PM this Saturday, and the bride really wants a location that is very modern and edgy and artsy. She had wanted to go with Deep Ellum, but I'm not really sure taking a bride to Deep Ellum at 5 PM on a Saturday is the best idea. Does anyone have any ideas for a place that might have a similar feel to it?

I would not see a problem with taking a bride there at 5 other than just a lot of traffic driving through the area, most restraunts will be open and a couple of the bars but the Clubs will be closed pretty much and you won't see much walking traffic other than people coming home to walk their dogs.

Now a lot of the "tag" art no longer exists but there are still a lot of "art" backdrops out there-you can go to this album and see a lot that I shot earlier this year. http://www.pbase.com/pgkps/random_dallas_shots&page=all
Everything past the devil should still be there, now the guitar player and the Erika Badu are both about 6 ft off the ground on the same wall and a few shots are over in Exposition Park by Fair Park. If you need more specifics on where something is exactly tell me what pic and I will try to tell you where it is.

The works painted on the concrete slabs/shapes are all under the I-45 overhead near the dog park and most of them are actually under cover of the brige.

Now this album does not cover any of the Goodlattimer Bridge Art since it is all gone now anyway thanks to DART.

Oh yeah forgot about this album group where I went and tried to document all the buildings in Deep Ellum and the Eastern Edge of Downtown-more archetectural in approach but shows 90%+ of the buildings in the area down to street and a few block address
http://www.pbase.com/pgkps/historic_dallas_texas

I plan to try to add whatever history that I can find about each building as time goes by-many of these larger buildings were manufacturing plants for the Auto or Rubber/Tire Industry or even the Farm/Cotton Industries.

Still have to go and cover a lot of the Exposition Park area but that is on the back burner now until I get off these crutches and able to walk around again.

The design district which is west of AAA (across 35) has some cool old rusted loading docks etc... but I second the thought that DE will be fine at 5 on Saturday.

To be honest, I took a bride there recently...at 5 pm...we left at 8...and it was fine. And she really WASN'T that edgy...It really wasn't a problem at all.

I think most things don't get going until after dark...
