Have not gone for many years and was thinking that I may just go but not sure where would be the best place to set up-will need to hang near the Jeep so not an area where you park and walk 1/4 mile-don't want to be humping around on crutches in the dark more than necessary with camera equipment in tow some way.

I would assume that because of crowds one needs to get to location about 7 or so, so people can hang and chat waiting for the show.

I'm planning on going. Do you know a good spot? I am planning on doing some reconnoitring this weekend.

Also, there is an airshow with some of the planes from the Cavanaugh museum at 7:30pm celebrating the 50th anniversary of Addison airport.

In the past we went to belt line east of the airport and found a spot to park and set up, sight lines were pretty good then but like I said I have not been out there for years and to get those beltline spots you have to be there early.

I believe the planes will be flying over the whole area but of course they will have to use the airfield to take off and land.

My office used to be in the Bank of America building (just north of Hotel Intercontinental), they used to open up the parking garage. If you to top floor you can see the airport. The parking garage entrance is off of Arapaho and tollway. Don't know what they charge the public. But if you find someone that works in one of the buildings you might be able to use their parking card.

Kaboom Town has been getting progressively worse and worse each year it seems like. I'll make plans to go but not expect anything spectacular. I've been going for for over 10+ years now...The traffic afterwards is ridiculous so I would recommend bringing an extra 6 pack or whatever beverage you like and hang out in the parking lot afterwards. :)

Using your map David, I shot from just west of the purple dot(west side of field right next to Keller Springs - Dooley Rd.) last year. The angle was not great and the control tower got in the way.

I was thinking of shooting from the south west side of Addison off Lindbergh lane. Here is a link to the thread on the fireworks last year. Near the bottom is a picture from the railroad tracks. I thought this might be a good location.

EDITED: Added link to last year's fireworks thread.

David,

Are you talking about the parking lot just north of your red X? Where you have the red X is inside the security fence for the airport or are you going to park right on Midway next to the fence?

This may be a long shot, but does anyone happen to live in Addison on a multifloor building with roof access? Might be fun to get together and shoot the fireworks from a high vantage point.
