Great American Race - 7/6-7/8 Lewisville & Iriving

Arriving in Lewisville on evening of 7/6 and leaving out of Irving the morning of 7/8.

Don't know where they spend the day in Irving. Umpteen years ago they spent the day in Las Colinas across from Williams Square.

Growing up in Farmington NM, I remember the first time this came through. Those cars, and their drivers were some of the neatest people to meet. Great fun.

I have decided, after much searching, that the Irving reference is the fault of some one not knowing the area. Looks like Grapevine all of the way for the 7th.

They are spending Saturday at the Grapevine Hilton (address above), so if you're in the neighborhood check out the cars.

Took the girls out there. The cars were way cool.

However, I ended up having to park in one of the grassy lots b/c there was no other parking. Of course with all the rain it was muddy. I drive a 4WD Excursion, so I had no problem getting in, but when we came back to the lot, there were two 2WD trucks stuck up to their axles. I thought I'd be a good Samaritan and help out. Well, as I was maneuvering to get to where I could pull one of them out, I ended up venturing too far into the mud, and buried the Ex to it's axles. No problem though, one of the stuck guys I was helping has a friend who runs a towing company. He called him up, and out he came to unstick us all. He first pulled out his friend and then me. I go up to him to give him some cash for beer money for his trouble, and he tells me I owe him $50.

That's the last time I try to help anyone out. If I had just minded my own business I would have just driven away. Now I'm $50 poorer and pissed to boot.

Greedy bastard. Pretty much ruined the evening.

Well...I took a lot of good pictures from Whitesboro yesterday, to Grapevine today, but my main computer nose dived so I can't process them now. Bummer!!!
