Hi,

I have a wedding this weekend at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in south Fort Worth. We have time after the wedding to go to a second location, but I am not familiar at all with that part of town. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Take a look at Candleridge park. It is close to St. Bart's and usually well-manicured. There is a decent bridge there. However, it is outdoors. I'm not sure what time your wedding is.

What exactly are you looking for in a second location?

Thanks,

It looks close to the church, so it may work. Unfortunately, the free time is in the worst part of the day...3-5!!!!

I'm not a pro, but I did grow up in that neck of the woods. St. Bart's is not the most attractive building, you are wise to use another location.

How much time, and what time of day? Outdoor stuff? Where is the reception? You may be close enough to downtown, cultural district, museums, botanical gardens, etc. Endless opportunities there. TCU campus surely has some nice settings. I can't really think of anything very close to the church that I would want my own wedding portraits taken...

The wedding and reception is at the church. The church has been renovated, and we will take the formals with family there, but we have time to go somewhere else between the ceremony and reception.

Candleridge is about the only thing close by. There are (or were, at least as of a few years ago) some pretty wide open fields down off Dirks and Old Granbury. It might be built up by now though. You might want to drive out there and look around some.

I live on Candleridge park. There isn't too much visually interesting / distinct other than the bridge, and, at that time of day, I imagine it would be a tough picture to capture well. If you have time, I would go further afield: north to TCU, Trinity Park or the Botanical Gardens, or west to Dutch Branch Park.

I'm close to where your shooting and there's really not much in the area. Other than the parks off Candleridge about all that's left is residential and retail and Benbrook lake. There's another small park just north of the church that has three or four small ponds but very little structure other than a playground and maybe one tree at one of the ponds. There's the golf course behind the dam at Benbrook. You might check with them, it's fairly close but if you have enough time, I'd suggest the same as Richard.
