Question Where's the best place to go to have a camera cleaned/checked out? - 08-08-2007, 11:23 PM

I have a Canon 30d and 24-70 2.8L lens that desperately need to be cleaned. Where is the best place to go? I really don't want to send it off to Canon to have it done. Also, how much can I expect to pay for that?

Thanks!

Cyndi,

I've never used them, but I hear very good things about them. Just East of I-75 at Beltline, in Richardson. They are also listed on the home page of this website, so they deserve credit for that (thx).

For what you want, I think they'll be fine.

Archinal is the only place to go. Robert, the owner, does it everyday. Call robert
at 372-644-7555 and make an appointment. You will need to but the sensor cleaning
swabs and liquid. The closest dealer will be Imaging Spectrum, on Forest Ln and Greenville
Ave in Dallas., He charges $60 to show you how to clean the sensor.

Use the supplies from Copperhill. http://www.copperhillimages.com/index.php?pr=products I just purchsed them and cleaned my 30D and my father's 300D. The sensors are now spotless and it was very easy.

Fort Worth Camera did mine once. No complaints. Since I went to the D200 and rarely change lenses in the field I've found that the Rocket Blower from Giotto does a fine job.
