Sept 15th Painting with Light - 08-08-2007, 11:23 PM

Ok, so I think it would be cool to have a Painting with Light session so who would like to participate? First things first, does anyone have any good experience with Painting with Light who would not mind giving a 30min to 1hour overview of how to do this? What I am thinking is we could try to find a model that we could pose maybe in Deep Ellum next to some Graffiti, grungy type of alley, etc. Right now I am open to suggestions on locations, models (TFP deal). If we cannot get a model then we could shoot something else, or each other (really prefer a model though :O). Let me know how you all feel about doing this and we can start an attendance list. Also, if you want to do some instruction please PM me and we can discuss the plan. All are welcome.

Attendees:
1. John (jchooper12)
2. Paul Clark (picasso)
3. Katherine (AngelPhotography) and Hubby
4. Chris (guitarbug) - Maybe
5. Wei (bigv616)
6. Malcolm (hitec4you)
7. Daylon (Daylon)
8. Andrew (AAC)
9. Adam (AdamN)
10. C J (CBass)
11. Janice (J Eddington)
12. Donna (dsjsws)
13. Terry (Teddington)
14. Cindy (Bella)
15. Edd (xseption)

Kathrine, you should come if you can. It looks like you have the concept down. It would be nice to have someone that knows what they are doing : )

Oh, here's a list of things everyone should bring to do this:

1. camera (duh)
2. tripod
3. off camera flash
4. flash light
5. cable release

This is just off the top of my head, I may add more later :) Can't wait to meet everyone!

Cindy,

If you just want to try it, go into a dark room and set your camera to bulb. Open the shutter and take a flashlight and make a bunch of movements with it, but not too many. Start off by spelling "HI" or something like that. Then close the shutter and see what you got (I'm assuming you're using digital). After a few simple experiments you can get fancier. It's really pretty easy. The hard part is coming up woth compositions ;)

Chris,

That's really awesome!! Did you put some kind of filter over the flashlight?

Thanks! No, I just painted the forks very quick then flipped the light towards the camera and gave it the wavey look! Some of the coloring came in PP with levels and curves.

Thanks, I'll have to try that soon. Seems I'm suffering from insomnia lately, and this will give me something to do.
