Sunday open photo dealer in Plano? - 08-26-2007, 10:35 AM

Finally my business strip to Dallas is coming up. Only a week long though :-(
I have a thread since a few months back asking for a photo dealer to buy a Canon 70-200/4 L IS from but I think I have that sorted out.

Now I have another problem. I have a ticket for the Cowboys-Giants game and saw that Zoom lenses are not allowed Smaller cameras are ok I´ve been told.
I have been meaning to buy a more pocket size digital camera and the one I´m looking for is the Panasonic Lumix TZ3.
Now to my problem. I´m arriving Saturday afternoon (7 pm) and I would really not like to be without a camera for the game (and before the game outside the arena, at the sportsbars etc). The game is on Sunday and for that reason I need to pick up the camera on Sunday before I leave to the game. Do you know where to find a dealer that is open on Sundays?
I´m, staying in Plano and since this is m first time in the US I´d like to avoid going too far in the rental car.
Any webpages to dealers would be appreciated.

Buying in Sweden before I go is a bad deal since the price is more or less double to what b&H has it for.

Camera Stop is wonderful -- make sure to ask for Michael.

They also rent lenses...so if you don't want to have to invest in a new lens just for the game, IF you book it ahead of time, they may be able to help. I think (however) all the lenses they rent are zoom...no primes...

That's interesting about the "no zoom lenses"...I am not a sports person, but I have been to a Cowboys game and I'd be hard pressed to figure out how their security would be able to keep up with all the cameras there...! And did they really mean "big" lenses as opposed to "zoom" lenses?

Also -- there is a store that Jason Huang just told me about in Dallas -- Competitive Camera -- and they rent tons of lenses! Unfortunately, it's not on their Web site. Not in or near Plano, but not terribly far from the Cowboys stadium if the traffic isn't too bad.

I have an SLR with a couple of zoom lenses, but I was thinking of upgrading since the prices are so good in the US compared to Sweden. So I will buy the lens anyway.

This is a quote from the Cowboys homepage:
CAMERAS: You may bring a small, still shot camera to Texas Stadium. However, video cameras and cameras with extended or zoom lenses are not allowed at Texas Stadium.

Thats why I´m looking to buy a small one with q quite good zoom range

Any other bis electronics store to suggest?
Frys seems to be the Cheapest one for the Panasonic TZ3 with $299 but they are sold out. I think I need some options on case they are sold out in the places I go to.
Maybe it is possible to reserve one for when I can some and pick it up?

Jocke, I am very pleased with Camera Stop in Plano, too. Michael, Stern, and all the staff and owner are all excellent to work with and their prices are great. Extra-ordinarily friendly and helpful, all. Great print work, too!

I don't think Camera stop has the Panasonic, but it is worth the check. Otherwise, looks like all the Best Buys have that one in stock nearby. I'm in zipcode 75035 ( a little north of Plano) and they are instock all around me, including Plano.

Is there a way on best buy web page to see where they have it in stock? I can´t find that feature (maybe because it does not exist?)

Best Buy doesn't have that feature on their site. You'd have to call them. But, if you show up and they are out of stock, they will call other stores for you.

Hi Jocke. I actually work for Best Buy in Plano so I thought I would help you out. If you go here and click in the little gray box on the left (under the photo of the camera) you can enter your zip code and see what stores have it available around the area. If you tell me what intersection in Plano you are staying at I can tell you the closest stores that are too you. Take in an add from Fry's or print something off showing that the camera is $299 at Fry's and they will match that price. If you can't find any add to give them just tell them what the price is at Fry's and they will normally match it without a problem. As of now everystore in the area has that camera in stock. If you need any more help just let me know! Have fun at the game!

Yes. And we price match like everything! Fry's is always under us so it makes it tough. But yes we do.
