Surprisingly short - that's only at 70mm any tighter and you can't frame it.... Quote: |

That is still a lot better than trying to shoot at the parking garage a while ago. Distortion was killing me at 14mm. | | | |

ISO 100, F/22, 70mm at around 46 sec... bulb setting with cable release on tripod. Used my 18-200vr with VR set to "active" just as an added cushion...

Good one.
Isn't that the same view (or just about) that the one photography school uses touting how some graduate made 43,000 from the one image?
Took me a min to find 'em... but yeah... you got some rascally rabbits to deal with there.

Umm.. the Belmont Hotel. (pssst, it's in the title!)
Specifically, on the little path down the hill that leads to the pool area. The Belmont is a boutique hotel over at Sylvan / Fort Worth street about 2 miles from downtown. Quote: |

Very nice shot, Daylon. I'll agree with whomever it was that said that they were surprised that VR didn't mess you up. I was using my 70-200VR doing some 20 and 30 second exosures of the Fort Worth skyline and they were VERY blurry. I'm scratching me head until it finally hit me that I had left VR on. Turned it off and the images sharpened up very nicely.
Did the Belmont give you any grief about shooting from their property? Did you call and ask permission? I'd like to head out there but want to make sure that it's cool before I just show up at their doorstep with a bunch of equipment.
As for the Dallas skyline shot that made all that money.... it was taken by someone going through the New York Institute of Photography curriculum. The shot that he took was from a flooded parking lot and showed the Dallas skyline, along with it's reflection in the water. Very cool shot and he made about $250k off of it. The story may still be on the NYIP website.
