I just saw this on the web (no pun intended)

anyone live out there going to get some shots? I hear it is a once and a lifetime event. I would be curious to see it.

Me too, I read about the social spider from local birder forum couple days ago, there's also report of Wood Storks at lake Tawakoni below the dam area.

Then, there's also a new rookery at Heard Museum open to public due to lacks of funding. ($8 per entry) i like to check it out, wonder how close we can get it... :) :) So i heard there's few chimchanga nests (Ice's bird book :) ) and plenty of late season chicks around.

It ll be a long weekend anyway, good for local trips.

I saw one rookery at Heard, I think I wasn't supposed to be back there but anyway it went from being kind of small to much larger in one month but I have not seen it in a month. There was a body of water between you and the rookery so I could not get as close as I wanted to. I am not sure if its the same one but it might be and you might be able to get closer now if it has expanded more. The one I saw was after you go through the swamp type area on the wood platform, take a right and just go straight from there and they were just passed the tree line. (Not to hijack the thread)
