Anyone seen traveling carnival in DFW? - 09-08-2007, 01:56 AM

I enjoy shooting those small temporary traveling carnivals that go from spot to spot, week to week, at some vacant land or shopping center. I usually see several come through DFW areas in the summer. But I haven't seen any this summer. Has anyone seen one lately? Anywhere within 50 miles of DFW would be close enough for me. Please let me know. They are ripe for some incredible time exposures and unique images.

Michael

Valley View - 09-08-2007, 08:06 AM

You just missed one at Vallery View mall 2 weeks ago. They had a big ferris wheel and some other rides that would have shot great at night. I tried to go but I had too much going on that weekend so I missed it too b ut I saw it as I passed by the mall.

If I see another I'll post it here, sorry.

Thanks. Keep your eyes open they had to go somewhere. I did not miss much. The location at Valley View mall is not a great location anyway. Thanks for the info.

The Lions Club in Keller on 1709 seems to have one every year. This year it was here in August. I missed out on the night time shooting, and when I went by the next day, they were packing up and moving. Drat!

I took a few shots with the trusty Holga.

Thank you Bob. My wife is going to Irving tomorrow. I will have her check it out. I am sure she will be "thrilled."

Chris,
Thank you. I have a couple of assignments this week in Frisco. I will keep my eyes open. I have been meaning to call you sometime to have lunch sometime. I will call soon, if I don't see you at a football game before that time.
Michael

You probably won't see me at a football game as I don't shoot those very often. I did happen to have a celina football shot I took be the main shot in the feature this month. I have no doubt it may be my best sports photo. I'll post it later today.

What assignments do you have in Frisco?

My assignments are Portraits, babies and a Senior. I am taking pictures at Pizza Hut Park Friday of Frisco Centennial football.

Those Celina people are crazy about their football. I was at their first game this year and there were thousands of opportunites for great pictures everywhere, not just on the field. It was so easy, like shooting fish in a barrel.

On the way home last night it looked like the carnival was gone from the Irving Mall. Sorry.

Keep looking Bob,
They had to go somewhere. We'll find 'em. Smok'em out.
Doesn't seem to be as many as there used to be.
