State Fair of Texas - 09-19-2007, 03:09 AM

Anyone interested in going to the Fair for a evening/nighttime shoot? I have no idea if it would be problem with us going in or meeting up once we get in. I have wanted to take some available light nighttime images at the Fair for some time. Have any others had some experiences they would like to share?

Good idea. I hope I am able to join in.
Somebody will have to make a decision about date and time.

I will contact the "State Fair" people to see if we need to follow any special instructions or rules.
Why don't we set Friday Oct 5 as our target date for now.

I am positive there are no rules or restrictions other than those for general fair goers.
I've seen all sorts of equipment being used, by all sorts of people.

Unfortunately I will be out of town that Friday. I'll keep track here in case the date changes.

Just don't make it the 8th, just got one of those dreaded jury notices, boo. First though, "How the heck can I get out of this".lol... I would actualy love to be on a jury for a big trial, but it never happens! I always sit there all day and crave for niccotine.

Thanks for the invite but I have my heart set on a nighttime session. I would not want to be out there all day AND night, plus Monday is always a killer for me. I think I will stay until it closes whatever night so I won't get home until late.

If we don't get any takers then I might switch to another night but I am still in for Friday the 5th from 7ish till close. I can sleep late on Saturday.

It is not as busy as you would think. That is why I picked that night. No one, going to the game the next day, goes to the Fair on Friday night because they would have to pay to get in. The next day the Fair will be free to those with a ticket. You don't want to be there on Saturday night. It is chaos. However all the locals stay away from the fair because they THINK that everyone will be there. So it is a rather calm night if history is to be trusted.

I think I'm hungry - 09-26-2007, 03:50 AM

Bobby,
Great Pictures.
I knew it. I can't wait.
I know it will be ripe with photographic opportunites. From great stills with a multitude of lights abounding, to time exposures that will reveal hidden treasure.
Should be a great evening.

Thanks! excellent photo opportunity for your collection.. I go as light as possible though due to all the walking. I can't wait either!! I just hope it cools down 20 degrees or so to put me in the mood for fall :)
