Thank you Tom and Gordon. Glad you liked them. At the first mission there was no one there but us so I enjoyed a peaceful shoot. At the Alamo, on a Sat night there were tons of people there. We went to eat then came back around 10 and although there were still a lot of people I waited for 2 different times where people moved out from in front of it to snap off a few shots. Then they came back in. Pure luck and patience. Thanx again.

Nice job. You were either up early or out late to get that lighting.

Matt. DDay and Daddy thank you. I planned it to be there at sundown to get the sun setting and the light hitting the mission just right. The mission faces west so the lighting was perfect. Thanx again, I'm glad ya'll liked them.

I am planning on going to San Antonio just for shooting the missions. Obviously this one faces west and evening is the best. While I have shot the Alamo when I was there, I can't say what is better for light, morning or evening, and what about the third mission? So when is best if you want to capture 2 or 3 of them with the Alamo being last due to crowds, AM or PM or are they split? I want to make the best use of my drive time.

Well Mission Concepcion is excellent about an hour/hour and a half before sunset because it faces West. Mission San Jose which is beautiful and much bigger has certain hours and is surrounded by a wall so you can't see it after they close. They close at 5 so you won't get sunset pics there so I guess at that one you'd be better just going anytime during open hours.

I don't know about the other missions, I would call them before you go just to find out if you can be there after they close. Good luck and I am looking forward to the pics.

Missions in November - 09-28-2007, 08:39 PM

I took these in November when we were showing my sister in law around San Antonio...I am a novice still learning my camera. I wanted to last one to turn out a little better than it did...These are of San Juan Capistrano
