I can sympathize with the complaints about services not rendered, and sun glare when it's preventable, but "faces drowning in shadow" when you have to shoot the ceremony straight into the sun?! I like how the biggest thing the reporter (not the couple) harped on was the "electrical cords in the shot." What a crime; like I'm gonna run around and make sure no cords are visible in every candid shot.

Still, sounds like a shady business. The complaints sound deserved, given their alleged track record.

Can you tell I'm not a big fan of alarmist local media? It's capitalism, people, not crimes against humanity. I'd like to see them to a report on Microsoft, with all the media whine; "... and then, when I clicked OK, I got a BLUE SCREEN OF DEEEEEAAAAATH! We tried to contact Bill Gates, but his SECRETARY said he was not AVAILABLE!!!"

I watched the video, and agree that they are a shady business. I am not a wedding photographer, but when things like this happens, it hurts everyone, not only wedding, but event photographers, etc.

I agree about the cords...as "them" being the professional, they should have noticed and fixed it in PS, but for the news to harp on it so much is a little much.

Anyways...hope everyone has a great day!

the cords should have been cloned out.
Total lack of professionalism but this is what a 499 wedding gets you

I keep hearing about psycho photographers and shady deals...and I really hate having to defend what we do because some bozos are running around acting unprofessional.

Agreed -- you get what you pay for -- but when the product is presented, you like it, price is agreed on...then it's a simple issue. What you paid for is what you should get. And if all their "gallery" images looked the same way, then that's what the couples should have expected. But they didn't. They also weren't told there would be another shooter at their weddings. Nor do I see that on their web site. In fact, this is what I see:

"We are a husband and wife photography team with over 20 years of experience. Our professional and unobtrusive manner allows us to capture the natural emotions and expressions of your family and friends as they share your magical day. With two photographers, you will receive the benefits of different perspectives as they portray the full experience. We would love the opportunity to be a part of that experience."

Unless expressed otherwise, I would assume that I'm getting TWO photographers and they are the husband and wife team mentioned in their advertising.

But, if you look at their packages...only ONE of their packages offers two photographers...the most expensive one, of course.

It's sad that couples don't check with the BBB about ALL their vendors...but you don't know the number of times I've had to assure couples that I'm for real...even though I have a large portfolio now...bring albums to meetings...offer names and numbers of brides...all because of a news story like this.

in their defense...about the cords....

well, the places didn't look that upscale....and you really can't go around hiding cords - i had a conversation with a fellow out of state recently - who shot a wedding in a VFW hall - and used their curtain for the backdrop - as there WAS no other wall suitable. he had complaints of course - the bride was EXTREMELY overweight..and she 'pushed' the curtain out more than the rest of the party...

i mean really ....those cords COULD have been cloned out - but if you really don't know what was in their contract, where this wedding took place...it could have been a DIVE.
