Its a cool device.. and a pretty good price.. but its craigslist, so caveat emptor.

Go ask someone who has used one. - 10-06-2007, 02:12 AM

Go talk to someone who has used one and not the person trying to sell this one. These have been around for twenty years or so. They did not work very well with film, I don't see why they would work any better with digital. They are extremely hard to get perfectly adjusted.

Yup, I have the system. Not sure that Virtual Boackgrounds have been around for 20 years, but the system today is NOTHING compared to what it was 5 years ago. Just think along the same lines as computers 5 or so year ago - no comparision.

It is just like any other tool, learn how to use it correctly and it is a great adition to your studio. In rebutal to the opinion above, I can get you several pros that use them and love them.

One thing to note however, and that is what Brad points out...it is craigslist and you MUST purchase one of VB's screens to work with this machine. There is several levels of this machine too, some of the lesser machines are hard to get images right with and not worth the money. Again, you get what you pay for.

I wouldn't consider purchasing a machine second hand, unless I knew the seller and knew I was getting a complete machine, working and had the opportunity to verify that for myself.

Henry J. Oles has had a highly varied 40 plus year career in professional photography, starting as a wedding and portrait photographer. He also concurrently spent 20 years as a professor of psychology at Texas State University in San Marcos.

After discovering the tremendous creative and marketing power of the virtual background process, he became involved in creating the Scene Machine which is sold to professional photographers around the world. He is the author of a number of publications and books including "Background Power" and "The Perfect Storm."
