Sonny Bryan's BBQ - Dallas - Holga - 10-08-2007, 10:04 AM

Some of the best Beef Briskette ever is at Sonny's original location in Dallas, TX.

It's a tiny place with old school desk type seating.
That sign in the window says "Closed Out of Food".
When they run out of BBQ, that's it for the day!

Man you're making me want to pull out ye olde Holga. These are perfect for it. Nice shots.

Did you modify yours? Looks like you don't have any light leaks and you cut it out for a square frame.

Problem is, who processes medium format film anymore? I think I have some film in the bottom of the fridge that's two years old. hmph.

Rott,

Mine is a new one, it has the 6x6 mask and I'm almost disappointed that it does not have any light leaks.

I have not done any mods -- yet.

I develop my own B&W negatives, and scan them with my Epson 4490 flatbed scanner. PS is my darkroom except for loading the film in the dev can.

Your outdated film might give you some unique Holga Surprises!

Holga = Photo Fun.

I like the B&W, but I think Sepia would REALLY rock :) Maybe I'll try that next time I'm over there.

You know what cracks me up about the Holga? There's a little switch on the top of the square lens mount that's supposed to be an aperture switch. Basically, when you toggle that switch it swings a little arm over the back lens element. That little arm has two rectangular cutouts, one smaller than the other, naturally, to achieve the smaller vs. larger aperture.

The kicker is... both cutouts are LARGER than the rear lens element. Think about that...

Oh yeah, and "Optical Lens"... uhhh, what else is there?

Ha...I've spent several times over the camera price on film and processing! Not quite ready to go back into the wet darkroom!

me neither, and the cost of the scanner upgrade to handle 120 drove my personal 'investment' to over 10 times the camera cost.

(still less than the cost of one medium quality lens for my Canon.)
