Dallas / Fort Worth meet? - 10-09-2007, 09:44 AM

Anyone not doing anything today?
Want to meet up at a location?

I need to work on my website, but I'm tired of being at home.
I was thinking that if anyone is not doing anything special would want to meet up at a cafe shop or something, somewhere?

Bring your laptop or camera with you so you can get busy.
Let me know.

Bored in Fort Worth.

I was considering taking the new camera to the FW zoo this afternoon.
It has become my standard test bed for new equipment.

It is also where ALL the cute young moms go during weekdays.

Tom, if I didn't have to work I would have joined you. I love my 40D. I just wish Adobe would hurry up with the Camera Raw update for it.

I need to get out and try the 300 F2.8... I am thinking the Zoo would be a good place... Although, I am a bit concerned about looking like a photo nerd. Definitely would like to get out there sometime while the temperatures are nice.

If you go to the zoo with a markIII and a 300 2.8 you will probably look like a photo nerd. But, the animals don't really mind, and you can make points with the good looking moms when you show them your Canon.

I was just checking out the FWZ website and notice dthey have "Photo Safari" events. Has anyone ever been to one? Oct 6th was the lions and the next one is kangaroos on nov 3rd. I'm taking a week off next week to just kick around and visit a bunch of local places and "get to know" my new 40d and FWZ is one on my list.

Also, KeithnFW, the photo raw for adobe for the 40d is already out. I'm using it in elements and I used it when I was using the trial of CS3.

I did the photo safari last year and it was great. I didn't have anything other than a f707 P&S but had a blast. Im a little upset with FWZ right now cause i was just there a few weekends ago and asked if they were still doing this. The kids at the ticket booth had no clue what i was talking about and then some other lady said no not for awhile. I didnt know 1 week last was a while lol. Oh well the Lions are my favorite at the FWZ little sad i missed out on getting them. These were taken with a 500mm f8 (sony lens) not as big as the 300 f2.8 so i didnt feel to bad walking around with it.

Little edit note: on the secod shot what your seeing on the bottom as foggy is really the dust she happen to kick up from a deep sigh, just happen to time it just right.

Wow CBass. Nice shots. I'm quite a cat fan myself and would have gone had I looked sooner. Not that thrilled about kangaroos. :)

I didn't make it to the zoo yesterday (tues) but may go over today. It will be crowded because it's half price day......

Is the half price thing every Wed? I'm trying to plan my photo vacation for next week and had planned on the FTZ on Wed, but if it's going to be that crowded I'll switch to another day. What day would you suggest as the lightest attended?

And sorry, I've kinda sidetracked this thread.
