Thanks for posting this. I had completely forgotten about it.
I wouldn't call high temps in the low 70s cold. That's perfect!

I went to some festival out there last year, but it was in the Spring.
There was a bunch of dance, music, martial arts, tea ceremonies and whatnot. It's worth checking out.
Here are a few from then. http://www.pbase.com/thejakestir/japanese_gardens_2006

Nice images Jake. last time I went to JG, as I was buying my ticket, I laid my monopod on the counter and asked if they were OK. The lady said monopods OK, tripods required a pretty hefty fee.
The ticket booth is only a few steps from the parking lot, so if they have changed their rules, it would be no big deal to take the monopod back to the car.
The Festivals are usually crowded, and the paths are narrow. Tripod would be more trouble that it's worth, unless you were there on a week day to avoid crowds.

i've heard about the tripod restrictions, but have heard that monopods are ok.
if fedex is true to their delivery schedule, i will be out there on sunday morning with my monowalking podstick.
anyone know if you can leave and come back in later without paying to get in again?

Tommy
I believe you can get a re-entry pass, but I can't swear to it.

my friends and i made it out there for only a few hours on sunday. we had to leave early so we only saw the karate demonstration.
the botanical gardens (surrounding the japanese gardens) also provided a lot of photography options.
the leaves have not changed colors yet -- the place is still pretty much still green.
