Well, I went to the LMRA meeting last night and it was actually pretty cool. They spent the 1st half hour talking about club announcements and different events of interest in the local area for the next month. They plan on going to the Ansel Adams exhibit in September at UT in Austin.
After all the club stuff, they had a Mr.. Tucker (sorry, can't remember his first name), owner of
www.tuckphoto.com, discuss anything and everything about pro portrait photography. Interestingly, he was a member of the LMRA club about 10 years ago, and was really easy going and comfortable talking about any subject (Lighting, Posing, Post Processing, Output, and Pricing). In all, he spoke and answered questions for about 1.5 hours.
I think the club is definately worth the $20 membership fee (employee discount). In a month they are going to clean out their studio and replace some older equipment. From what I gather, they're just going to let their members take home old equipment they don't want anymore...pretty cool.
Funny thing happened at the end of the meeting, I think I got voluteered to teach a photoshop workshop. The average age there was probably mid forties and not really computer saavy. I'm only 29, so I guess they look at me as the young punk who can teach them a thing or two.
