These are of the japanese gardens a few months back. Critiques/feedback welcomed (it's the only way I'll learn). I may not have sized these properly - etc - if so let me know and I'll try again. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. A little bigger would make it easier for critique! They look good so far.

Hey Naomi, you could prolly size these a bit bigger, that way we can see more detail. #1 is cool, I like the color and the composition. My only suggestion on this one, would have been to focus on the top, green (would those be petals LOL?) Because of the color, my eye is drawn to the orange at the top and my eye wants to follow down, out of the pic. Since you *in foucs* part is in the middle, it stops my eye and sends it back up, and i dont get the full effect of the pic. #2 I like and think is very pretty, but since its smaller, its hard to see any detail. Hope that help, keep up the good work, looks great!

I also probably should've mentioned that the berries were one of my first experiments with a lens baby. I'd like to retake this with a 50 mm lens.

I woulda never guessed a lensbaby on the first one. I would love to see what you get doing the same pic with your 50mm. This size is much better now :)

love the 2nd pic, but can you add a bit more contrast to it and bring out the trees more?

I will mimic one of my first photographer gurus with a comment that I always felt was unrealistic, until I started trying to market my photos to the public.
It needs a young Japanese lady in full kimono and parasol on the pathway.
You probably didn't have one available... my point is that it is a good snapshot, and to move to the next level a photographer needs to think exponentially regarding context, composition, impact.

I wish I'd had a model available wearing a kimono with a parasol -- that would have been amazing. It would have been worth the professional fee the garden would probably've charged me.

i think the bridge photo is fine without the person in it, but open in photoshop, do a layers - adjustment layer - levels, and move the center triangle to the right to add contrast and depth to the middle colors.
i like both photos
