Rowlett or Plano - 11-05-2007, 05:48 PM

I have 2 different questions for locations.

First of all, I have a family that wants to do a sitting at some church in Plano. They said it's at Parker & the Tollway but I can't think of anything down there. I'm going to drive down there tomorrow at lunch but thought I would ask and see if anyone knew what they might be talking about. She said that they had fountains and lots of foliage. Any ideas where that is?

Also, does anyone know of something close to Rowlett? The family is willing to drive so I'm not too concerned if I don't hear of anything but I'm always looking for a new place to shoot so I thought I would ask.

Thanks!

There is at least one church in that area on Chapel Hill and the Tollway just south of Parker. I looked at Google earth satellite view an could see the shadow of a steeple.

You're in my hood...

There are many churches in the area, but none that I know of exactly at that intersection.

There are at least two large facilities in the immediate area: Prestonwood Baptist, and St. Andrews United Methodist. It's my guess they mean Prestonwood, which is at Park & Midway. St. Andrews is on Plano Parkway & Mira Vista. Neither are more than 1/2 mile off the North Dallas Toll Road.

The church that Don is speaking of is a Parkway Hills Baptist Church http://parkwayhills.phsm.org

St. Andrews is a popular spot for bridals and family shoots...maybe that's where they meant?

Yeah, those were the two I was thinking of, St. Andrews and Prestonwood. I thought of the one at Chapel Hill, but it's smaller than the first two. St. Andrews is better for a shoot because it has a creek and pretty grounds. I've shot a wedding there before and shooting another there in July. I do know they have strict rules for shooting weddings there, so you might check with them before you head out there to shoot. I'm sure it will be fine, but you never know. They also have a beautiful "brides room" with a sitting area and fireplace. It would make a nice room to do some more formal type of portraits of the family.

I bet it's St Andrews. I've seen a lot of portraits done there and it's beautiful.

I thought of Parkway Hills too but when I drove by there, I didn't see anything like what she described. I just sent her an email to see if she is talking about St. Andrews. I can't wait to go over there tomorrow and check it out! I'll keep everyone informed on what they say about shooting there! Thanks for the help!
