The DFW area is in line for a treat on Wednesday. The Space Shuttle is landing tomorrow and its glide path to landing will take it over the DFW area.
If you have not seen a shuttle re-entry it is a wonderful site. The bottom is flaming red hot with a vapor trail that will streak across the sky. It is neat. Take your cameras with you. We only have a few years left of the shuttle and it does not glide over land much anymore.
First landing opportunity will be at 12:01PM or noon Central Time. Shuttle should be overhead at about 15-20 minutes before that time. It will track North of us but you still will see it very clearly. Here is a tracking map for this landing opportunity:
The second opportunity is going to be a landing at 1:36PM Central Time. Shuttle should be directly overhead on this approach at about 15-20 minutes before that time. You will see it very clearly directly overhead. Here is a tracking map for this landing opportunity:
To find out when the shuttle will re-enter the atmosphere and what path it will take, monitor the NASA Shuttle Landing Blog about two hours before landing and it will let you know when the landing time will be. Remember the approach overhead will be about 20 minutes BEFORE landing time.

I will post pictures after it passes.
