NASCAR Photo Op

Well, sort of.

On Sunday, November 18 at 12:00 I (along with 10 others) will be taking the 10 lap racing course at the Texas Motor Speedway. I can invite as many people as I want to watch.

You'll have the opportunity shoot actual NASCAR or Busch Series cars going around that track at up to 150mph. You can sit and shoot from Pit Road.

I know it's not an actual race, but it's a rare opportunity to shoot from Pit Road.

I know the timing is bad because it conflicts with the seminar but I bet not everyone is going.

I will try my best to keep the paint job looking the same at the end of my run as it was at the beginning. I'm just hoping I can make it to 150mph.

Unfortunately, I'm moving and shooting a wedding that day. Have fun and be careful...lol! I've shot in the pit before, the part where you have to have a photo vest (surprised they let me into that area since I didn't have the vest). Great place to shoot from!

Hey David!!! I might take you up on that!!! I have a memorial to go to between 2 and 4 in Keller, but I would love to get some panning practice, and that would be a wonderful opportunity!!!

There is a 30 minute class and then we hit the track at 12:30 with a couple of laps in a van to learn the groove, then we are off in the cars, so it should be over pretty quick.

Also, I believe they said to use the North tunnel entrance to park in the infield.

I have done that Team Texas Driving twice. You will have a blast. It is worth the little extra to take a ride with the Pros driving and the limiter chips turned off.

that would be awesome, I went to spring NASCAR racing, shooting from stands is not fun at all with all those fences. I would love to join.

Having shot from pit road and driven with Team Texas, I can say everyone should have a chance to do both :)

My butt was too tall and wide to fit in the 20 car... I had to drive the big boy car, which was the Bellsouth 42 car (at the time). That was one of Adam Petty's car before he passed away. It was an honor to be in the Petty 45 car :)

Is it confirmed and how do we meet you in TMS? Also, wondering if there is any cost associated?

David you will have the time of your life. I did this in 2000 and got the video. It was a blast and 10 laps goes by really fast. The only thing I didn't like was they would only let you pass in one corner.

Unless it rains, its confirmed. There is not cost. They said everyone is welcome and can bring chairs and ice chests if wanted, but no alcohol. You enter through the North Tunnel entrance which takes you to the infield and then head out to pit road. I expect there will be signs or someone to direct you in.
