Well, the part about the camper was for the group to come in for something hot to eat and the only close location is Eisenhower State Park and I don't know if they have electricity or hook ups. My longest glass is a 300mm afs f4. and I have both the 1.4 and 1.7 TC's. As time gets closer we'll firm up possible dates. The tricky part is getting my DH to pull the camper up there! LOL!

I would be interested in going. Doesn't matter if it is before Christmas or in January. Dianne, you started this thread. I think it is up to you to come up with a date.

We'll be working on the date ASAP! I just hope it will turn out to be a good day for the eagle population!

Dianne,

I'm very interested ... however, I won't be able to commit until a date is defined.

Thanks.

I'm thinking it's going to be a date pretty close to after Christmas. I hope to pull our camper up there and stay a couple of days. Of course everyone in the group would be invited over for something hot to eat. I'll keep ya'll posted

I emailed Ethan couple years ago(?) about the eagle up there. One's gonna need superteles (500 or 600 with ext tube) and tons of luck to get a distance shot. He got them from the boat and it weren't easy.

Unless the guide know the nest is, it's not easy to get close to one.

Actually you have a better chance of getting them down by the dam when they are releasing. Its a nice fishing hole for them.

There is a camping area on the OK side that has nice hook ups and a boat ramp. We were up there last year and saw several eagles from the boat. I agree you would need a LONG lens to get them, though. And from a boat it is not easy!

Would you happen to know when that is? I hope to make a run up there sometime soon to check things out.

Been there, :)

I went 3 weekends straight when they released the water, No sign of baldy but plenty of white pelican chowing down drowsy fishes off Denison dam. Wish our bank have as many as Baldy up Mississippi River.

They normally only post the tenative schedule a couple of days in advance. Here is the best source for that data:

For current elevation, weather information and tentative generation schedules it is always best to call 903-465-1491 to get the most updated information. In addition, online data is available via the following US Army Corps of Engineers web sites:

Good luck
