Here are some of my pictures from the Fort Worth Zoo I took on November 4th.

I couldn't believe how long his tongue is!

I would appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Paul, You got some great shots!

I love the lion "yawn"...at least I think it's a yawn?

Your comment about the bear's tongue is exactly what I was thinking. I've seen bears on TV wildlife shows scarfing up ants out of rotting wood, but I never knew their tongues were that long.

I like the sharpness on the gator photo and the silky waterfall is very pretty.

My favorite shot is the white tiger except for that pesky group of distracting bright yellow leaves. If you're not too much of a purist, you might try cloning that out and you'll have a great shot IMO.

That tongue is good for getting to honey combs in tree trunks.

I like the lion yawn and the Texas Wild waterfalls. The light is just perfect on the Zebras.

Great shots indeed. Love your Zebra, Tiger, and especially the lion yawn. Have you been in front of him when he's roaring? I was once and you could feel the bass in your chest. What an awesome experience and I got shots of it all.

Everytime I go the Sun Bears are always asleep or down in the very bottom where you can't see them. Good shots!

I can imagine you can feel the roar. This was just a yawn!

I got very lucky on the sun bear. He was asleep when I walked up but someone next to me "talked" to him and he woke up. Got this picture and one other of the tongue before he ambled down to the bottom.

Wow! That is a great job and it really makes the photo. My eyes kept drifting up to those darn leaves.

Thanks,

That's a great edit. I've been using Pshop for years now and I think I've mastered the cloning tool and I don't think I could have done a better job than that. Now if you can just remove the vine/branch above his head and the one on the top left it would be perfect.

Good job.

Ok, I've replaced the original photo at the top. Let me know what you think.

I have also replaced the waterfall picture based on an offline suggestion.

Jim,

I used a Canon 20D with either my 70-300 IS lens or the 24-105L. Pretty much anything below 105mm was the 24-105L.

EXIF data is available from the SmugMug gallery which has a number of additional pictures. Here is the link: http://Aggie86.smugmug.com/gallery/3903843/1/226463194

I used LR (with CS3 & NoiseNinja on the high ISO shots) for processing.
