Looks like a Kestrel to me too. I don't know how common though.

Great shots Keith!

I know this bird. American Kestral. Resides just inside the west fence at Carswell NAS. Has a habit of sitting on the chain link fence to hunt mice in the field. He's a poser.

That's right Tom, I think you posted a shot of him a few months ago if I remember.

DO I see a little envy in his eye of the High Flying pilots.
Good contrasting shot in two ways...contrast of the sky and subject and contrast of the natrure on galvanized barbed wire.

Exclamation Bombs away - 11-29-2007, 11:02 PM

I would think that military aircraft would only carry live ordinance at the bombing range, not flying over populated areas. If I am correct, training bombs are blue, but this one is green, indicating it is a real bomb. Maybe a 500lb. or 1000lb.
remember the B52 a couple of months ago that overflew several states with nukes onboard. (they didn't know it).
Just my observations.
thanks
Jeff

They routinely fly live ordnance out of Carswell. In fact it is what it's all about. How do you think they get TO the bombing range ? Overheard a Canadian f-18 last week that came back with "hung ordnance". He circled over a local lake until they got the airfield ready for his arrival.
