Xiang, did you take these from a canoe? I have been wanting to go camping there for the past year and take a trip on a canoe. I was just wondering how images would turn out (obviously mine wouldn't be as good!) lol

Awesome pictures. It's a wonderful place!

Jeff,
If you would like to take some pictures on the water, lookup Billy Carter, he owns
http://www.spatterdock.com/
He has these little boats called Go Devils, they are like the ones you have seen in the James Bond movies in Thailand where the propeller is way out several feet from the boat and only barely goes in the water. He has taken lots of Pro's out for shoots, and can take you to portions of the lake you normally couldn't get to in power boat.

He also owns several Duck Blinds and to be out on the lake before sunrise, its foggy and the sun rising, unbelievable photo op.

We only discovered him last time we were out so I havn't had a chance to shoot, just enjoy the area with the family.

Good luck.

Trivia: Caddo Lake is the only natural lake in the state of Texas. All other lakes are man made.

My photographer friend True Redd and his wife Lady Margaret just sold their gorgeous place on Caddo Lake. He used to hold photography workshops there.

I took these photos on a tour steam boat. This boat is good for photograph because its tour line is wonderful, it moves smooth and it has two stories. You will take totally diffrent photos on upper stair.

I'd like to rent a canoe and row my way around the lake... does that seem feasible to shoot in??

True! The average depth of Caddo Lake is around 8-12 feet and I believe the lake was created by a log jam. There is also some interesting rumors about an old steamboat that sunk there with treasure on board. People have actually searched for it.

I have fished several bass tournaments on the lake and it is really an incredible site to see. I don't fish anymore, but I would like to go back for some photo shots. Watch out for the gators when you are there!

Bringing this thread back, when were these pictures taken? I'd like to get a few friends together to go up there for a "photo expedition" around late Jan. early Feb. and was wondering what it is like around that time.
