I have this mental image of a guy putting the LED's on the tree and his wife saying "move that one just a little to the left dear. Ok now the one up close to the top near the thingy needs to come down a little... Oops... too far... just a little up and to the left now. Ok now the one at the bottom, on the branch next to the branch that looks like a hand, that one needs to go to the right a little..."

I just bought an LED task light. It has 24 LEDs and the specs say that it uses 330mA at 3.6V for all 24 LEDs. So, if there are 40,000 LEDs on that tree (I didn't count them so I don't know for sure), and the LEDs use about the same power which I suspect they do, then total power is:
Power = 1.19 watts for 24 LEDs based on 330mA at 3.6V
(1.19W/24)*40000=~1980W
So, running all day it would use about 47.5 kWh and cost about $6.18 a day to run at about 13 cents/kWh.
Did I do that right? | | | |

Depends on the LED's. I used "superbright" LED operating numbers. They make LED's that operate in the 1 Watt range these days (maybe higher)

All I asked for this year was the wreath and garland (that's prelit) over the entryway to the porch. (of course last year, it was March when the lights were taken down - but no bearing on this )

30,000 lights. 300 x 100 = 30,000.
