There's a house near where I live in Flower Mound that had a Dallas based company come out and put LED lights on a large tree in their yard. I talked with the owner one day as I was driving by and she said there are about 40,000 LED's on the tree and that it takes a grand total of ONE dollar per day to light (she leaves it on 24/7). It takes more energy to run a load of laundry than to power the tree for 24 hours.
Anyway, here's a shot during dusk and one at night. The tree is SO bright you can see it for miles.
Dusk when you could just start seeing the LED's:
At night... You can see the normal colored "white" lights on the house to the left:
Very cool tree. The glow is something to see.

Nice! Joe, Didn't you take a picture of a Christmas tree last year out in the snow, it was blue I believe. This picture some how reminds me of it.

Yeah, in fact for the first time I made our Christmas cards this year and that was the front cover. The wife made me adjust the color so it was red instead of the bluish/purple.

Wow that thing is LIT UP. 40,000 LED's for 1$/day... Now imagine lighting up an entire house like that "Griswold" style. ;)

Absolutely beautiful!
Love the sky in that first one. It would be good even without the lights in the tree.

I like both images, but the tree in the second one is unreal. Any idea how much she paid for that?

I've got to wonder what it cost to put the lights on the tree in the first place.
Very beautiful shot, Joe. I see that you're putting that D3 to good use.

That's beautiful. Where abouts in FM is that, as I'd love to drive by it when the wife and I go out for our Christmas light drive.

I'd definitely like to know too. I'd love to pop out there one night and take a couple of shots.

Wow! That's really cool. Did she say how much it cost her to have those LEDs installed?

On Shiloh between the 1171 (Cross Timbers) and the 407 (Justin Road). Believe me when I say you won't be able to miss it.

_/oe | Ah yes! I know the area quite well. Used to ride my motorcycle through there on the weekends. Of course, now that my kiddo was born, I haven't gotten to ride that motorcycle in too long. I guess that's why I haven't been out on Shiloh road lately =) Well, except to eat a Christina's.
