Nice shots, Roy. I always thought it was Stockyards but back in the days when I frequented that area, I would not have noticed!

If I remember my grammar correctly...

When referring to the place itself, it's "Stock Yards." If using the name of the place as a modifier (adjective), the two words are combined: "Stockyard Station." Same principle as "in my back yard" vs. "my backyard landscape."

Nice images. :-)

I knew someone would have an answer.....

I appreciate the feedback. The last one will be the feature photo for December on my 2008 calendar. The first one didn't make the cut but I liked it anyway. This calendar will be all night photography of a few things in Fort Worth. I found it's not possible to get everything in thirteen photos unless they are very small..hehe.

Nice one Roy!

What lens were you using? Exif says 40mm, ISO 200, f9, with your 1DMKIII. I'm assuming you were tripod mounted since exif doesn't show a flash.

Doesn't seem likely that a shot like this used a flash.

The shot could have been taken with any lens. It isn't usually the lens that matters as much as the photographer and the technique that is used. This looks like a shot made with a tripod since it is sharp and at f9 at iso 200 you would probably be shooting at well under 1/40th of a second so it would be hard to handhold.

Cheers,
rfs

Thanks Jim and Roger. Well I was switching back and forth on lenses that night so if it's 40 mm I must of had the little Tamron 28-75 2.8. I almost typed an "L" on that. LOL! I love that lens and it has really had a workout over the last 2 1/2 years. I also took some shots with the 16-35 but that one had to be the Tamron. Thanks again for the kind comments.

Edit: Forgot to say that yes, it was mounted on a tripod. Shutter Speed was 2.5

I like the clean reflections you got off the cars and bricks...makes the scene look alive.
Nice shots.
